Who are beryl?

We are beryl and we create innovation for urban cycling. Our flagship product, the Laserlight, is a front bike light with a laser projecting a bike symbol onto the road ahead of the rider. It enables cyclists to be seen in the notorious ‘blind spot’ and keeps you safe on the road. We started on Kickstarter and now ship to over 60 countries. More recently we have integrated our lights into Citi Bike in New York and all of the Santander Cycles in London, all of whom recognise us as the key to providing safe and smart urban cycling now, and in the future.

beryl is a team of 28 based in Shoreditch, London. We care about each other, have our own office with our own workshop, and thrive on collaboration. We are all passionate about cities and urban cycling. Over the next year we are looking to expand our team dramatically in order to keep up with all our exciting developments.

 

What will you be doing at beryl?

Our new Customer Service Assistant will be responsible for;

  • Managing the entire customer journey, and dealing with customer queries and returns
  • Lead in building a community driven customer services experience
  • Constantly iterating the way we manage the end to end customer support process
  • Implementing new strategies to increase brand reputation and customer perception
  • Create and update content for our Help-Centers, email templates, scripts and FAQs
  • Ad hoc operational improvement projects to create a best in class customer experience

What are we looking for?

  • Good with people (our customers are the heart of our company!) and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication – we communicate with our customers over the phone, and via email
  • A highly organised and outgoing candidate that is self-motivated
  • Proactivity to identify potential improvements to the customer support processes

It began as a consumer product and ships to over 60 countries, but more recently was integrated into the Citi Bike in New York and all of the Santander Cycles in London, with more to be announced.

So where would you fit into all this?

beryl is entering a new and exciting phase of growth and is seeking Sales Agents (and Lead Sales Agents) to represent the brand in new markets. Particular focus is on our new “Lamp” model with a lower price point and suitability for e-bike and Dynamo fitting (mainly OE but also After-Market)

  • Target selected new accounts to stock beryl products
  • Build a sales plan segmented by Cycle stores, e-bike stores, hire fleets, OEM brands
  • Open new accounts with accurate delivery and billing information
  • Site and merchandise beryl product in optimum retail zones
  • Share “best retail practice” and beryl communications on Social Media
  • Assist retailers in creating online listings that comply with beryl brand guidelines
  • Train shop floor staff in key USPs, brand background and sales points
  • Demonstrate beryl B2B ordering and install/bookmark with retailer
  • Make retail store staff aware of Myagi training platform for on-going learning
  • Conduct regular visits and/or email/phone contact to ensure regular replenishment
  • Assist with timely cash collection
  • Encourage staff purchase and demonstrator programme
  • Engage retailers with pre-order programme
  • Assist with trade and retail shows (where applicable/possible)
  • Provide regular summary of contacts and prospecting activity
  • Provide market feedback and insight into objection handling, range planning, competitor activity and NPD

About you

You will gain experience with Multi Channel Sales – target Retailers, OEM bike brands and bike hire business based within your area, but we would love it if you already had some exposure with the following:

  • Established Multi-Brand Sales Agent with connection to all stores within your region (Or) New Sales Agent with prior experience working as an in-house Sales Representative within the Cycle Trade (Or) Established Lead Agent with team of Sub-agents (Or) Distributor whose team may also work on Agency basis
  • Strong sales skills and good relationships across the board
  • Ability to deal with stores of all types or business from small Boutique stores to Regional Multiples, Hire Centres to Bicycle Factories
  • Good IT skills across a variety of platforms to support B2B training, electronic sales, EPOS, Training and Social Media
  • Organised and reliable with monthly reporting and day-to-day contact
  • Keen cyclist, ideally some experience of e-bike usage too

We’re building a new team to lead the development of mobile and web products that will be used by cyclists, transport providers and fleet operators.

We’re looking for a software engineer, with a bias towards JavaScript/React (front-end) experience, to join us in shaping the future of urban mobility. You’ll be joining a small engineering team at the beginning of our journey. You will take ownership of front-end web development within the team but we encourage (and expect) that you’re able to get stuck into other areas of development to support the team when needed. We look for people with strong technical and communication skills.

Your Challenge

  • Comfortable with Webpack and CSS post-processing/CSS-in-JS concepts
  • Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested software
  • Comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity every day and is able to think creatively around the right technical solution to a given problem

Nice to haves

  • Experience with the Google Cloud Platform or AWS
  • Experience in building REST APIs
  • An understanding of Python
  • Experience/interest in using React Native

Your Challenge

We’re looking for experienced mobile engineers to join us in shaping the future of urban mobility. You’ll be joining a small, fast paced engineering team to build mobile applications that people rely on to move around cities. We work extensively on both the native and Javascript side of a React Native applications.

  • Tackle some big technology challenges and solve real-world user problems in the area of urban mobility and logistics.
  • Work with the team to develop mobile applications across Android and iOS (although having a focus on one platform is fine).
  • Work closely with other engineers to help inform the overall architecture and API design for backend services.
  • To ensure proper process exists for testing of the mobile apps.

We value a strong understanding of composition within React, or an interest to move further in this direction.
  • Experience with native mobile languages (either Java/Kotlin or Obj-C/Swift).

Who are you?

You will have a rare opportunity to work within one of London’s most exciting startups, and take a leadership role within a team of senior managers and subject matter experts across product, design, supply chain, and logistics to bring our existing portfolio and product pipeline to market. What you’ll be doing at beryl

You will develop the strategy and lead business development with local authorities and transport authorities for beryl. We have developed products and technologies that support bike share and mobility and it is time to communicate what we can do to improve cycling.

  • Communicating and influencing local authorities and transport authorities on the benefits of urban cycling and the support our products provide
  • Developing and executing on a go to market strategy for bike share industry in the UK, Europe and North America
  • Build a pipeline of opportunities and broaden understanding and accessibility of our products for Bike Share and urban cycling markets
  • Build our position of leadership and authority within the smart, sustainable mobility industries.
  • Work closely with product development teams to ensure product features are aligned to policy and market objectives
  • Run a CRM process that delivers against business aims, and provides strategic feedback to business management
  • Negotiating commercial contracts with partners and customers
  • Delivering excellent client support in order to achieve benefits of our products and technology.
  • Be comfortable presenting to clients and at conferences or events for beryl

About You
