Following the successful launch of e-scooters in Newquay and Falmouth in June, the service has now expanded to Penzance and Truro, completing the introduction across all four areas.

The e-scooter rollout gives visitors and residents the choice to make short, carbon-emission free journeys while building on an established shared transport network that is already being used thousands of times each week.

E-scooters bringing in new riders

Since their introduction this summer, riders in Cornwall have already recorded 14,864 trips, with an average of 3.4 rides per scooter each day.

The service is also attracting new users. 1,660 first-time riders have used an e-scooter since launch, representing 31% of all first-time riders joining the scheme during this period.

With an average ride lasting 13 minutes, the data demonstrates e-scooters are being used for the short, daily journeys shared transport is designed to support; from getting into town, connecting with public transport or travelling between local destinations.

The Cornwall scheme in total, has recorded 73,542 journeys since May, covering more than 172,000 kilometres. E-scooters account for 16,462 of those journeys in the latest scheme data, alongside 57,080 journeys by e-bike.

Providing more choice 

Demonstrated by the arrival of new riders into the network and the significant increase of overall journeys, the positive response has been a clear indicator of strong demand. With the county-wide rollout now complete, the focus is on building on this success.
