The company is offering all new riders a free 15-minute pedal or e-bike ride this week when they sign up to Beryl.*
Held annually, Bike Week is a national celebration of all the positives that riding a bike can bring, both to our own health and wellbeing, as well as the wider impacts on our communities and the planet.
Since launching their first share scheme in 2019, Beryl has generated over 4.5 million shared bike journeys across nearly 12.5 million kilometres.
These journeys have also generated nearly 1.8 million hours of physical activity which according to industry calculations, has saved around 207 tonnes of carbon emissions across the UK.
Beryl CEO and co-founder, Phil Ellis, said: “Our bikes and e-bikes are fun, convenient, healthy, sustainable and cost-effective ways to get around the towns and cities that we serve.
“If you haven’t given shared transport a try yet, then Bike Week is the perfect opportunity to have a go, especially with your first fifteen minutes for free.
“By swapping four wheels for two and adopting more sustainable transport habits, you can really help to make a positive difference to the area in which you live.
“Using a bike or an e-bike can help contribute towards reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality by lowering harmful carbon emissions.
“You’re also increasing your activity levels which is great for mental and physical health, so with the warmer weather and longer days upon us, why not give it a try.”
The latest Beryl Annual Rider Report - a survey of thousands of people that have signed up to use Beryl undertaken last summer - showed that 53% of those asked say they are now cycling 'more often' or 'much more often' since they started using Beryl.
