The vehicles are now available to use at five re-opened bays, located on Pinewood Avenue, East Howe Lane, Pelham Sports Centre, Anchor Road and at Kinson Library.

The decision to reintroduce the scheme to Kinson was made in November last year following feedback from scheme users. The scheme is regularly reviewed by Beryl and BCP Council to ensure it provides the best possible service for users. 

Following the expansion into Ferndown and Wimborne, it was decided that the scheme’s commercial situation had changed sufficiently to enable the reintroduction. 

Beryl CEO and co-founder Phil Ellis, said: “We want to remove any barriers that exist to sustainable transport to help encourage people to use it more instead of their cars. 

“Doing this not only helps reduce traffic and congestion and harmful emissions, it also improves regional air quality and public health. 

“I’m therefore delighted that we are able to reintroduce the scheme to the KInson area which will hopefully make our vehicles a lot more convenient to many more people. 

“We will continue to review our schemes and processes to ensure they are being delivered as effectively as possible.”

Councillor Mike Greene, BCP Council’s Cabinet Member for Sustainability and Transport said: 

“I am delighted that Beryl are re-introducing their service to Kinson, particularly now that the hire scheme area has been expanded to include neighbouring Wimborne and Ferndown.  Ever since its withdrawal, the local Ward councillors have been pressing for their return. 

“The Beryl Bikes, e-scooters and e-bikes provide a great, sustainable alternative to taking the car and fewer cars on the road means less congestion, lower emissions and quicker, easier journeys for those who still need or want to drive: Your travel - your choice.”

The move follows the reintroduction of the scheme to the Bearwood area in 2022. 

Vehicles were previously withdrawn from the Kinson area in early 2021 after a review found that they were no longer a commercially viable part of the scheme at that time.
