Enjoy a summer fling with Beryl

Sustainable transport experts Beryl are encouraging people to sample the fun and flexibility of their shared transport schemes and enjoy a summer fling that lasts.

The More than a Summer Fling campaign launches today, encouraging people to experience the benefits of bike, e-bike and e-scooter share schemes while the weather is warm and the days are long.

Beryl users can experience all of the green flags of a positive relationship - travelling sustainably, saving money, convenience and user friendliness - while avoiding the red flags of an unhealthy one - congestion, high fuel costs, parking and carbon emissions.

After enjoying their first few dates with Beryl and discovering their compatibility, users could be encouraged to commit to something more long term - perhaps by buying a minute bundle or pledging to commute sustainably.

By going steady with Beryl, users can boost their mental and physical health while helping to further reduce traffic congestion and harmful carbon emissions.

Beryl CEO and co-founder, Phil Ellis, said: “With so many things to see, do and experience in the towns and cities where we operate, summer is a great time to take the proverbial plunge and head off on a first date with one of our vehicles.

“Once you’ve experienced all the benefits that our schemes have to offer - such as convenience, simplicity, sustainability - then there’s a real chance that your summer fling could turn into a long term relationship.

“We understand that many feel a commitment to their car, but with our vehicles you avoid the high expenditures of petrol, tax, insurance, MOT, maintenance and storage - making them a real head turner.

“By running this campaign, we want to showcase all of the reasons why bike share could be an excellent option for you, so why not give it a go and swipe right for Beryl this summer?”

Beryl’s Annual Rider Report, obtained from over 3,000 riders across six share schemes in September 2022, showed that 38% of all riders have reduced their car usage since using Beryl - an increase from 29% from the previous year.

The survey also showed that riders are embracing variety and, compared to 2021, are much more likely to try multiple modes. The overall number of people riding bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters more than doubled from 7% to 15%, while those riding bikes and e-bikes (+9%) and bikes and e-scooters (+4%) also increased.

You can hire a Beryl bike, e-bike, e-scooter or e-cargo bike through the Beryl app, available for free download on the App Store for iOS, and the Google Play Store for Android users.
